Why is my indica medication labelled as "Cannabis sativa L"?

Currently, the only officially recognised species within the cannabis family is 'Cannabis sativa L'. Although other species classifications have been proposed, the TGA requires the official species name to be listed on each medication.

This means that even an indica strain will be labelled as 'Cannabis sativa L'. If the medication label matches the medication you ordered, and is listed as indica on the patient portal, then you have received an indica product. A good example of this is the Spectrum Red Canopy Krypton.

This dried flower medication is from an indica dominant strain, however the active ingredient is listed as 'Cannabis sativa L' as per labelling requirements.
